The first Roll of Honour lists the 12,320 Birmingham citizens who died in the First World War. The book was designed by Sidney Meteyard and penned by Kate M. Eadie.
The cover bears the words, ’There was none that gave them ill-word, for they feared God greatly… So they passed over, and all the trumpets sounded for them on the other side‘
The first page bears the inscription, ’The glory shall not be blotted out. Their name liveth for evermore‘
