‘Herein are recorded the names of the people of Birmingham who lost their lives as a result of the Second World War, 1939-1945. For remembrance’

Bound in Morocco leather and embossed with gold leaf, the first page of the book bears the Latin inscription, ‘Dulce et decorum est pro patria mori’. Translated, this reads, ‘It is sweet and honourable to die for one’s country.’
